Riverside Academy High School

The high school program is designed to meet the needs of diverse learners by providing flexible scheduling, a safe student-centered environment, challenging curriculum and student designed programming. RSAS offers 10th through 12th grade students an opportunity to earn credits toward a high school diploma from their resident district. The delivery method choices are seat-based, independent study (for students 16 years and older) or a combination of both. 

Riverside Academy MIDDLE School

The Junior High is a program for students in 6th through 9th grades needing a change in environment due to various reasons. Resident referral is required. Students will enter the program with an established goal for transition back to their resident district middle school or high school. The environment encourages students to work toward success in specific academic, emotional and social challenges as the staff uses Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS). All required classes will be scheduled and the program is available to students in surrounding districts.

Independent Study (I.S.)

The I.S. Program uses an independent study delivery system. Through independent study, students can complete course work outside of the traditional educational setting. All independent study activities will be coordinated and validated by Riverside staff members. Students will be required to complete a specified amount of independent work in addition to direct teacher-contact time.

Credit Make-Up

Credit Make-up offers a limited number of courses during the summer and school year that allow high school students to make-up credits that they have either failed or not completed. Students must be referred by their home school district. A general rule of 9 credits may be earned per school year, 6 during the school year and 3 during summer school.

Riverside Academy - Targeted Service Programs

Extended day programming for grades K-8, usually located in the regular school system, are “dual-enrollment” programs. Students are enrolled at their regular school and the Targeted Service Program through Riverside Academy. Targeted Services Programs provide qualifying students with intervention services that assist with academic acceleration opportunities in English and mathematics, social-emotional adjustment and parental goal setting involvement. Students who participate in Targeted Services Programs must abide by the policies and procedures of the school district the program is in and the Riverside Academy Programs.

Post-Secondary Enrollment Options

Riverside Academy - High School participates in the statewide, dual credit, Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO). This allows qualified high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to earn college credits from post-secondary programs while also working towards their high completion. Students not meeting the traditional PSEO requirements may apply to access our Bridge to College: College Connections Program Partnerships: ENTER HERE! College Transition with Support through the Anoka Ramsey Community College or C2: College Connections through the Pine Technical & Community College. Applications are received two times per year, 3 months prior to the intended college semester. Both PSEO options are free of charge to the participating student.

Work Experience Program

The Work Experience Program is for students who need to gain work adjustment skills and/or to explore careers. The Work Experience Program works closely with local businesses and the Federal Jobs and Training Program. Training Agreements and Training Plans must be signed and abided by in order for students to gain academic credit.

Youth Service Activities

The Riverside Academy Programs provide opportunities for students to participate in youth service or community based employment and non-employment related activities. These activities need to be coordinated by a staff member.

Adult Diploma Program

The Riverside Academy - High School is a service provider for select adult educational options. Eligible students can enter to complete their requirements for a high school diploma.
